ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Micropress Printers produce a full range of printed matter, including business cards, leaflets, brochures, newsletters, monthly magazines, and perfect bound books.
We recognise however that in our day-to-day operations we inevitably impact on the environment in a number of ways and we wish to minimise the potentially harmful effects of such activity wherever and whenever possible.
We attach maximum importance to matters concerning the environment. Our policy is to meet and, where practical, to exceed all relevant regulatory requirements and to minimise any adverse environmental effects caused as a result of our activities or products.
OUR Initiatives
Micropress purchase paper from suppliers who demonstrate environmental awareness and we use partly to fully recycled, elemental or totally chlorine free, or paper obtained from sustainable forests.
By installing advanced CTP (computer-to-plate) we have eliminated the need for film and its associated chemistry from the pre-press department allowing for better quality, faster make-ready and less wastage of paper, saving energy and materials.
We operate a safe working environment with particular attention to essentials required by COSHH (The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health). Our waste chemicals, plates, plastic containers, are recycled or disposed of by a licensed waste contractor.
All waste paper (including office and pre-press) is recycled through licensed waste reprocessors.
IMPROVEMENTS
We are continuously looking at ways to improve our commitment to the environment and are in the process of implementing energy saving ideas throughout the company using guidelines provided by The Carbon Trust. These include low energy lighting, movement sensor switching, upgrading vdu monitors with flat screens (reduce energy use by two thirds) and encouraging staff to turn-off lights and electrical equipment. We aim to raise awareness, encourage participation and train employees in environmental matters.
We will monitor our progress and review this policy on an annual basis.
